I'm Baaaack!

My accent hasn't totally reverted back to Texican. Or so I'm told. But y'all (see? I'm TRYING to hang onto it), I had such a good time this summer. We got to stay with my best friend, eat Shipley Donuts, shop, go see my dad and grandparents a couple of times (they live like 250 miles away from where we flew into and stayed), hit Starbucks, shop, stay at the beach for a week, eat more Shipley Donuts, and go to a family reunion.

Oh, and we shopped. I got all the Christmas pressies! Which is a good thing. Because in England? We are broke.

I took something like 500+ photos and I don't even know where to start in terms of editing, and sorting through them all!

Anyway.

I'll blog more regularly soon. My kids don't go back to school for another couple of weeks, so I might not get much time on my computer. Make that my new laptop with 64bit operating system, 17 inch screen and 4gigs of RAM. AND PhotoshopCS, which my son is totally addicted too. My laptop rocks y'all. Well, it does when I get to play on it. I didn't get the Nikon D80 I wanted so badly, but this laptop and my iPhone totally make up for the lack of an awesome camera. Oh. Yeh, I got an iPhone too. This summer almost felt like Christmas to me.

Turn your head to the left and enjoy, because I have NO clue how to turn this video right side up. If anyone knows how to rotate a video, I'm all ears.

If you listen closely at the end, he's saying, 'Oooh, pixels'. That boy is completely absorbed with Photoshop. And my new laptop.

I leave you with this gem of a photo. Taken when my best friend's husband fell sound asleep after a long day on the beach.

He totally did not loosen his grip on the beer bottle.

Sweet Misery

Anyone who read my post about Excitotoxins and who wishes to know more?

Watch this video.

If you watched the whole video. Please remember. Aspartame is only one excitotoxin we consumers are ingesting. And in many cases around the world, it's not even on the label. I know that here in UK, aspartame is not always listed as such; oftentimes it's merely listed as a 'sweetener'.

I read every single label on packages, when I shop. And if there is any question as to what an actual ingredient is? I simply don't buy it.

It's just not worth the risk.

Thankfully, my children fully understand thet dangers of excitotoxins. AND, they know what ingredients to look for when reading labels. (listed on my previous post, linked above)

I really hope people will wake up and take a long hard look at what they are ingesting - and start to link what's happening all around the world (the dramatic increase of neurological diseases, etc), with the addition of these toxins in our food supply.

Another massive health risk are soy products. (This brings up the issue of genetically modified foods, too....) I won't touch soy. And I'm not going to bother to post a video or any data about soy, other than to say this. If you have breast cancer - or it runs in your family? Run away from soy products in all forms because it promotes rapid growth of cancer cells. This is a fact. Reliable information is widely available on the net. Dr Blaylock has some invaluable information on his website - including a few abstracts (peer review papers) that anyone can download (pdf files) and read for themselves.

I don't know about you, but to me? Health is just not something I choose to leave in the hands of others. I view it as my responsibility to get informed, so that I can care for my family responsibly.

It has been my experience that a lot of people do not wish to hear about certain topics, like this. For some it's because they simply do not wish to change (laziness, arrogance, refusal to believe that there are people in the world who put profit ahead of people's well-being, etc). Others find it overwhelming. And many struggle to wade through the data, assimilate it, and come up with solutions.

For me the solution is very simple (after a lot of highs and lows, and omg wth's?!).

I read every label of every single product I'm considering for a purchase. If anything is questionable, I simply don't buy it. I avoid most restaurants, unless I know the food is indeed, fresh. And I buy no pre-packaged-ready-to-eat meals whatsoever.

Also? The behaviour and moods of my children has REMARKABLY improved since making these small changes. And that speaks loud and clear to me.
